First conference win!

Parkers Chapel traveled to Fouke September 26 for our first conference game in our new 3A conference. After beginning the season with three non-conference losses against Strong, Hampton, and Smackover, the Trojans were able to put things together for a hard fought victory against the Fouke Panthers.

With low numbers on the team the Trojans have continued to work hard and improve over the first portion of the 2008 season.

Junior quarterback Jacob Midyett had an outstanding game on Friday night. Jacob passed for 163 yards delivering passes to four different receivers.

The longest play of the night came from Midyett to sophomore WR Camden Havens for 84 yards. Havens finished the night with 127 yards.

Midyett lead the offensive attack with 128 all-purpose rushing yards, without counting a 58 yard interception return.

Midyett was 5 of 10 passing, rushed for three TDs and one 2 pt conversion.

The Trojan defense was also lead by Midyett from his MLB position. Jacob had 11 tackles and forced a turnover on our own 1 yard line. Midyett then lead the Trojan offense on a 99 yard drive during which the 84 yard pass to Havens took place. The drive was capped by a 4 yard TD run by Midyett.

Other contributions to the Trojan cause were made by Zach Abbott who rushed for 57 yards and two 2 pt conversions. Senior Ryan Johnson rushed for 22 yards and delivered the final Trojan touchdown. Junior WR Clint Neely added one clutch reception of 31 yards.

Defensively the Trojans gave a much improved performance delivering hits and pursueing the elusive quarterback in the Fouke A-11 attack. Seniors Trevor Smith, Tyler Cheatham, Kaleb Young, and Ryan Johnson performed well to pitch a second half shut out. The Trojan defense also saw action from juniors Midyett, Neely, Quade Brown and Tyler Feemster. Aeded by sophomores Truett Smith, Jacob Skinner, Camden Havens, Ryan Gosnell, Jake Roark, Zach Abbott, Daron Vines, and Chance Free the defense seemed to be headed in the right direction.

The Trojans will line up at home against the Lafayette County Cougars next Friday, October 3rd.
